This is very important, because in standard braces, the ligature is held quite tightly to fix the archwire and in many cases blocks the archwire.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During teeth straightening, the archwire must expend a considerable amount of force and time to move through the braces. In self-ligating braces, the archwire is not locked, allowing the teeth to move more quickly, using weaker, physiological forces.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The clinical outcome of this method is great:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The overall duration of treatment is reduced.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The need for tooth extraction is minimized.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The number of doctor visits has decreased  <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This saves time for both the doctor and the patient.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wearing braces is more comfortable.  <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Self-ligating braces In self-ligating (non-ligating) braces, the archwire is fixed not by ligatures (colored or colorless rubber bands), as in conventional braces, but by special locks on the braces themselves.
