So that holiday treats don’t damage your teeth, I’d like to remind you of the rules of healthy eating and oral hygiene:

One of the most important food components that harms dental health is sugar.

The more of it we consume, the faster the number of bacteria in the mouth grows, which leads to tooth decay.

What matters for teeth is not how much sugar we eat, but how often. After every meal, saliva needs time to neutralize the harmful effects of sugar.

It will be less harmful for your teeth to eat a whole bar of chocolate in one go than to spread it over different times of the day.

In general, we can’t give up sugar completely, as it is in many products, but our advice is to limit it as much as possible and always brush your teeth after eating it.

The most beneficial foods for teeth are dairy products (unless, of course, a person has an allergy or a lack of the enzymes needed to digest milk). Dairy products contain calcium, magnesium and phosphorus. These elements saturate saliva with useful substances, which is good for dental health.

Don’t forget to brush your teeth twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, after the first and last meals.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We wish you a healthy mouth and a beautiful smile!

How should you care for your teeth over the New Year holidays?
