Teeth whitening

Tooth discoloration, or discoloration, is caused by organic or inorganic dyes ingested throughout life. Over time, the dyes deposit on the tooth surface.

There are several external factors that can change the color, for example: frequent consumption of products such as tea, coffee, nicotine. If the enamel surface is not damaged, such pigment can often be removed with professional cleaning.

Causes of intrinsic color change include: congenital and acquired enamel lesions (fluorosis, hypoplasia, tetracycline teeth, color change after root canal filling, etc.).

At NB Dental – Nino Beridze Clinic, we use 2 main whitening methods: Year In-office and home whitening (with caps).

So-called in-office whitening is performed using a special whitening gel, the effect of which is maintained for a long time by supporting it with home whitening.

The patient can whiten teeth using a mouthguard directly, independently of the doctor, at home, using an individual mouthguard. The patient can apply the whitening gel to the mouthguard and wear it in any situation, for the duration specified by the doctor.

Contraindications to whitening can be considered:

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • A noticeable defect in the enamel;
  • Deep cracks on the enamel surface;
  • Unsanitary oral cavity;

It is important to know that dentures, artificial crowns, and bridges are not subject to whitening, as they will need to be replaced after whitening.

The duration of the procedure is 90 minutes.

For long-term results, it is necessary to maintain proper oral hygiene and visit the dentist regularly for preventive cleanings.
